Book Covers – The soul of your novel

Category: Writing Comments: No comments

Book covers. They’ll make or break your book. Your cover is absolutely the most important part of the book you’re selling. After all, who are we? We’re not Steven King, Dean Koontz, John Grisham, or Anne McCaffrey. These authors are world renown. Someone once said that if Steven King put his name on a phone book, it would become a best seller. But us? If we’re lucky, we have a small fanship. Mostly, we’re relying on word of mouth, or hope that someone will randomly buy our book, not knowing who we are. Your book cover can make that happen. The worst book cover can make a great novel sit on the shelves. A great book cover can sell the worst book ever written.

The worst cover mistakes I’ve seen– people trying to draw it on their own. Even if you’re an artist, don’t...

10 Questions With… Daryl Mayfield

Category: 10 Questions With...SammWriting Comments: No comments

When I first decided I wanted to do an audiobook of my novel, Little Idiots, I was approached by a lot of producers, but either they just couldn’t get the voices right, or they missed the timing on my writing, causing the jokes to fall flat (But you should’ve heard the British producer; she did a good job, but it was weird hearing Samm with a strong accent). When Daryl Mayfield sent in his audition, I was taken by how he instantly picked up the timing of my writing, which is actually not as easy as you might think. And then I heard him do the main female character’s voice. I had to replay it several times to figure out if it was him, or an actual female, or sound editing. Right then, I knew I had to work with Daryl and I was right; the audiobook sounds amazing...

Little Idiots now available

Category: SammWriting Comments: No comments

Christopher Minori’s new novel, Little Idiots, is now available. The novel picks up where the novella, Devil’s Advocate, left off. Samm is a lower-class demon who’s having the worst day of his millennia: banished from Hell, his powers stripped from him, caught in the middle of a demon turf war, and an escaped demon-hunting soul has Samm in its sights. Satan has promised to allow him back into Hell; all he has to do is capture the soul and discover who helped it escape. The good news is he already knows who it is. The bad news is it’s him. Samm will have to wade through the middle of this insanity if he ever wants to see Hell again. With the help of human detective Barney Little, fellow demon Jude, and a young witch-in-training, he might just make it. But probably not.
